How We Walk the Talk: Internal Sustainability
As a global sustainability ratings provider, we carry our commitments from the inside out. We place great importance on managing our impact across our own operations and supply chain.
At EcoVadis we are committed to minimizing our contribution to climate change by actively reducing greenhouse gas emissions from our operations and supply chain. We have set targets with the Science Based Targets initiative.
Our commitments*:
- Reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50% by 2030.
- Increase annual sourcing of renewable electricity to 100% by 2030.
- Reduce Scope 3 emissions per unit value added by 55% by 2030.
As a ratings provider, unbiased and objective operations of the highest ethical standard are unnegotiable. Our Code of Ethics guides the behaviour of our employees and managers and ensures the integrity of our operations. We have zero tolerance for bribery, corruption, fraudulent activities and strictly avoid any conflicts of interest. Employees and contractors are encouraged to report violations via our confidential whistleblower procedure.

- Train 100% of our employees on ethics
- Train 100% of our employees on anti-discrimination and harassment
We are committed to cultivating an inclusive learning environment for our people, providing meaningful work and empowering future generations of sustainability practitioners. We continuously work to create an environment, built on our company values, in which our employees can thrive. Diversity, equity and inclusion, ethical working conditions, physical and mental health and career development are our core priorities.
Our commitments:
- Ambition to have a balanced gender representation at all employee, managerial, executive and board levels.
- Pay all employees above living wage
- Maintain adjusted gender pay gap of less than 1%.
We are committed to managing our sustainability impact across our own supply chain. Therefore, we assess the sustainability performance of our suppliers and engage them in our greenhouse gas reduction journey. - Assess the sustainability performance of 80% of our spend by 2024.
- Ensure all of our suppliers are scoring at least 45 by 2024.
- Lower GHG emissions from purchased goods and services in line with our Scope 3 reduction targets.

Philanthropy
Through its philanthropy program, EcoVadis shares its success with nonprofits operating on sustainability education, climate change, diversity equity & inclusion, decent work and economic growth. EcoVadis is a signatory of Salesforce’s Pledge 1% initiative.
Each year, EcoVadis supports global nonprofits that contribute to our purpose.
We plant a tree for every scorecard published to contribute to global carbon sinks and promote biodiversity.
Every year, EcoVadis supports nonprofits of our employees’ choice in the countries where we operate. Furthermore, each employee is granted one volunteering day per year and can participate in social and environmental activities via our Changemakers Community.

We are committed to fostering collective action within our ecosystem to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world. We collaborate with leading organizations to make this a reality.

The UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally-accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.

The Diversity Charter is a written commitment that can be signed by any company, regardless of its size, that wishes to ban discrimination in the workplace and intends to work towards creating diversity. It expresses a company’s willingness to truly reflect the diversity of French society through their workforce.

Companies are under ever more pressure to contribute to a sustainable future. With the 2030 Development Agenda and ambitious international agreements to mitigate climate change, there is increasing momentum for change. Businesses are taking action towards a more sustainable world, and, with the new GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards, companies are in a position to unlock the transformational power of sustainability data.

ObsAR (Observatory of Sustainable Purchases) is an association created to encourage the exchange of information and knowledge and to develop strong practices related to sustainable purchasing. EcoVadis joined the ObsAR in 2018 and is one of the founding members of the “Programme Action Achats et Économie Circulaire” (Purchasing and Circular Economy Action Program), which is a joint initiative to make the circular economy a key parameter of choice in companies’ purchasing policies.

CDP runs the global disclosure system that enables companies, cities, states and regions to measure and manage their environmental impacts. EcoVadis and CDP have been in a partnership since 2012, offering an enhanced service to both EcoVadis and CDP Supply Chain customers, as well as to reduce the requests for companies in the supply chains of large purchasing corporations to report on how they are managing carbon.

L’ORSE is a multi-stakeholder organization which supports the transformation of CSR in companies. L’ORSE works together with the main actors of CSR and SRI in Europe and in the world. EcoVadis is a partner of L’ORSE.

RHSF (Human Resources Without Borders) is an independent NGO working in the prevention of child and forced labor since 2006. Given the complexity of the issue, RHSF set up a fund in December 2017 with the aim of gathering a force for preventing child and forced labor. EcoVadis joined this force together with other companies, such as Crédit Agricole, Maisons du Monde, Petzl, and Total.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a collaboration between the UNGC, CDP, WRI and WWF and one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments. EcoVadis has joined the global movement of 100 leading companies aligning their businesses with the most ambitious aim of the Paris Agreement, to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial level. More importantly, this commitment will push us to better understand what Science Based Targets means while developing necessary expertise, allowing us to start developing tools on our platform that will help our 60,000 customers to improve on GHG emissions in 2020.

The Future of Sustainable Data Alliance is the proactive voice of the sustainable data ecosystem.

The Parity Pact initiative has been co-created with the companies of the French Tech 120 programme in order to advance the issue of parity in French Tech.
